A late 19th-century Persian Sultanabad carpet from around 1890, measuring approximately 304.8 × 396.4 cm (about 10’0″ × 13’6″). The design is built around a central medallion on a saturated red ground, framed by a straw-toned border — a classic Sultanabad combination that has become shorthand for “antique Persian decorative carpet” in the design trade.
Sultanabad carpets of the late 19th century were hand-knotted in wool at organized workshops in west-central Persia (now Iran), and pieces of this period in stable condition are now well over 130 years old. The format and palette make this rug a strong fit for traditional dining rooms, formal living rooms, and library spaces.
Hand-knotted wool. Authentic one-of-a-kind antique.
