A late 19th-century Persian Sultanabad carpet from around 1890, measuring approximately 304.8 × 396.4 cm (about 10'0" × 13'6"). The design is built around a central medallion on a saturated red ground, framed by a straw-toned border — a classic Sultanabad combination that has become shorthand for "antique Persian decorative carpet" in the design trade. Sultanabad carpets of the late 19th century were hand-knotted in wool at villege workshops in western Persia (now Iran), and pieces of this period in stable condition are now well over 130 years old. The format and palette make this rug a strong fit for traditional dining rooms, formal living rooms, and library spaces. Hand-knotted wool. Authentic one-of-a-kind antique.
