A late 19th-century Turkish Oushak carpet woven in western Anatolia around 1890, measuring approximately 335.4 × 396.2 cm (about 11’0″ × 13’0″). The piece is built on a sky-blue ground and a gold-toned border, an unusually pale and luminous palette for an Oushak of this period — and one that has made these carpets a perennial choice for designers furnishing rooms with light walls and natural-fiber textiles.
The composition reads as a generously scaled tribal pattern rather than a finely detailed urban design, consistent with Oushak’s decorative tradition in this size range. Oushak takes its name from the town of Uşak in western Turkey, a center of carpet weaving since the 15th century.
Hand-knotted wool. Authentic one-of-a-kind antique.
