Antique Dhurrie Large Room Size Cotton Yellow Rug, Circa Date: 1935. This striking textile is a superb example of early 20th-century geometric design, utilizing a vibrant palette anchored by a rich, sun-drenched yellow field. As one of our finest antique rugs, its flatweave construction provides a crisp texture, highlighting the bold, repeating stepped diamond motifs that define the composition.
The intensity of the primary field color is masterfully contrasted by deep indigo outlines, creating a dynamic optical effect across the surface. This exceptional example of yellow color rugs utilizes secondary hues of soft sage green and coral red to punctuate the center of each diamond, adding depth and complexity to the overall rhythm.
A strong, continuous Greek key (or meander) border frames the central field, providing a necessary architectural containment for the energetic interior pattern. Given its substantial dimensions, this piece is classified among our room size rugs, offering significant coverage suitable for major living spaces or formal dining areas.
Woven from durable cotton, this Dhurrie rug retains remarkable clarity of color and structure nearly a century after its creation. It offers a powerful aesthetic statement, blending traditional geometric structure with a strikingly modern color sensibility, making it a compelling choice for contemporary or traditional interiors seeking a focal point.
Condition: Good.
