Add vibrant mid-century modern color and pattern to your interior with this exceptional Vintage English Art Modern rug, designed by Ron Nixon and crafted in England around 1970. This large-scale statement vintage area rug blends artistic abstraction with practical craftsmanship, making it ideal for sophisticated modern interiors, collectors, and design-forward homes. Format: rectangular
Measuring approximately 9 feet 3 inches by 11 feet 9 inches, this rug is well-suited to living rooms, dining areas, studios, and open-concept spaces. The borderless layout allows the design to flow naturally to the edges, giving the rug a clean, contemporary presence.
Design & Color
This striking carpet features a lively composition of curved and angular shapes arranged in a rhythmic modernist pattern. Rich jewel tones blend with earthy accents to create a balanced yet energetic color palette that brings warmth, depth, and movement to any room. The artistic layout draws the eye across the surface, making the rug both a functional floor covering and a visual centerpiece. The palette includes black, cream, grass and teal green, lemon and mustard yellow, red and coral, navy blue, soft gray, and chocolate brown.
Materials & Construction
Crafted using a tufted wool pile, this rug offers a soft yet durable surface designed for everyday living. The wool fibers provide natural resilience, color richness, and comfort underfoot, while the cotton foundation and jute backing ensure long-term structural stability. Although mechanically tufted, the finishing work reflects the care and attention of skilled studio production.
