Antique N.W. Persian Hallway Runner Wool Rug, Country of Origin: Iran / Persia, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional piece represents the finest tradition of antique rugs woven in the late 19th century, characterized by robust construction and deeply saturated natural dyes that have mellowed beautifully over more than a century.
Perfectly proportioned for transitional spaces, this hallway runner rugs format is highly sought after for adding warmth and historical depth to long corridors and entryways. The provenance points directly to Iranian / Persian rugs from the Northwest region, where weavers utilized resilient, high-quality local wool to create durable, highly decorative textiles.
The central field features a sophisticated, aged palette of moss green and khaki, providing a subtle backdrop for the complex design. This field is dramatically framed by wide borders of deep indigo and terracotta, a color signature often seen in NW Persian rugs that emphasizes their tribal and geometric structure.
The intricate main design utilizes a repeating geometric lattice, creating a dynamic, continuous movement across the length of the carpet—a classic example of allover rugs where the pattern fills the entire space without a central medallion. This runner retains remarkable pile height and character, offering both historical value and enduring functionality. (Note: This rug size is approximately 5.0ft x 10.07ft, which differs from typical small scatter sizes).
Condition: Good.
