Hallway Runner Rugs (3ft x 19ft), Circa Date: 1900s. This exceptional piece exemplifies the enduring quality found in antique rugs from the Caucasus and Northwest Persia. The primary field is saturated with a rich, vibrant yellow hue, featuring a finely rendered, repeating diamond lattice pattern that creates a sense of depth and visual texture.
The masterful use of natural dyes results in a highly desirable palette, where the central color shifts subtly between deep yellow and the luminous tones associated with yellow rugs. This warm foundation complements both traditional and modern interiors, while the dense knotting ensures a robust structure characteristic of early 20th-century village production.
Contrasting sharply with the warm field, the wide main border is rendered in a deep indigo blue. This border is populated by a lively procession of stylized tribal motifs, including abstract animal forms and geometric blossoms, all framed by delicate guard borders in ivory and light blue.
Given its elongated dimensions and narrow width, this piece functions beautifully as a sophisticated hallway runner rug. Its remarkable condition and strong visual presence make it a compelling example of tribal artistry, offering both historical significance and practical utility for transitional spaces.
