Hallway Runner Rugs (3.03ft x 15ft), Circa Date: 1900s. This compelling Northwest Persian piece is characterized by its powerful, repeating geometric structure and its deep, saturated color palette, marking it as a superb example of early 20th-century antique rugs.
The narrow, dramatic field is anchored by a dark, near-black ground that allows the complex geometric motifs to vividly surface. This dense, rhythmic lattice is composed of highly stylized, abstract forms that strongly resemble the traditional boteh paisley rugs motif, rendered here in a distinctly tribal, compressed manner.
The palette is expertly balanced, utilizing vibrant terracotta and soft ivory against the deep field, punctuated by accents of muted teal and olive green. This combination provides a striking contrast often sought in brown earth tone color rugs, grounding the intricate design with organic warmth.
Woven in an exceptional, elongated format, this rug’s dimensions make it an ideal choice among hallway runner rugs. The multiple, finely detailed guard borders frame the central pattern perfectly, emphasizing the verticality and sophisticated craftsmanship inherent in this rare Northwest Persian weaving.
Condition: Good.
