A late 19th-century Persian Sultanabad carpet from the 1890s, measuring approximately 304.9 × 396.3 cm (about 10’0″ × 13’0″). The composition pairs a buff (taupe-toned) field with a salmon border — a softer, more neutral color register than the saturated reds and indigos more commonly seen in Sultanabad production.
Sultanabad was a major weaving center in west-central Persia in the late 19th century, producing decorative wool carpets in formats and color palettes specifically suited to Western interiors.
