A monumental late 19th-century Persian Serapi carpet from around 1890, measuring approximately 487.9 × 731.8 cm (about 16’0″ × 24’0″). The composition pairs a sky-blue field with a camel-toned border — a distinctive cool-warm palette uncommon at this scale and one of the qualities that defines the most collected late-19th-century Serapi production.

Serapi is the trade name for the highest-quality antique carpets produced in the Heriz weaving district of northwestern Persia in the late 19th century. Authentic Serapis are recognized for clear, geometric medallion drawing, generous open-field spacing, and subtle vegetable-dye color palettes that have kept them at the top of the antique-decorative-carpet market for over a century.

Hand-knotted wool. Authentic one-of-a-kind antique.
