Antique N.W. Persian Serab Rug, Country of Origin: Iran / Persia, Circa Date: 1870s. This exceptional example of 19th-century weaving hails from the Northwest region, showcasing the robust geometric artistry characteristic of Iranian/Persian rugs from this period. The use of saturated natural dyes—particularly the deep indigo and madder—speaks to its authenticity and age.

The central field features a powerful procession of interconnected, stylized diamond medallions set against alternating fields of red and ivory. While the design is highly centralized and vertical, the continuous repetition of motifs creates a dynamic, repeating structure often classified among allover rugs. This intricate patterning is framed by multiple narrow guard borders, each utilizing small, repeating geometric motifs that complement the main field.

Woven in a long, narrow format, this piece functions perfectly as a decorative and durable element for transitional spaces. Such antique textiles are highly sought after for their ability to define long corridors and entryways, making this a superb example of a classic hallway runner rug. The tightly knotted wool pile, typical of durable village production, ensures longevity and resilience.

Dating to the 1870s, this textile is a true document of nomadic and village artistry from the Qajar era. The excellent preservation of color and structure ensures that this piece remains a significant acquisition for collectors seeking authentic, high-quality antique rugs with undeniable historical provenance.
