A late 19th-century American Navajo rug from the Transitional Period (around 1890), measuring approximately 122.0 × 213.4 cm (about 4’0″ × 7’0″). The composition pairs an intense bright red ground with an ivory border — a saturated, confident color register characteristic of Navajo Transitional weaving as the tradition shifted from blanket production toward room-format rugs for the Western market.

The Navajo Transitional Period (roughly 1880-1900) is one of the most collected formats of historic Native American textile.

Hand-woven wool. Authentic one-of-a-kind antique Navajo.
