Antique Chinese – Art Deco Chinese Red 1930s Red Rug, Circa Date: 1930s. This exceptional Art Deco piece captures the bold aesthetic of the 1930s Chinese weaving tradition. The expansive, saturated field is rendered in a deep, vibrant red hue, making it a standout example among red color rugs of the period.
Characteristic of the finest Art Deco designs, the composition utilizes vast negative space to maximize the impact of the color. The sparse decoration features elegant clusters of stylized blossoms and delicate trailing vines along the border, positioning this piece firmly within the tradition of sophisticated floral rugs.
The generous dimensions of this weaving suggest it was intended as a primary decorative element, perfectly suited for defining large living areas.
