Antique Baluch Persian Brown 1900s Rug, Circa Date: 1900s. This compelling tribal weaving represents the distinct aesthetic of the baluch nomadic groups, known for their deep, saturated palettes and intricate geometric vocabulary. Woven in the early 20th century, this piece showcases the enduring quality and expressive nature inherent in Persian tribal art.
The palette is defined by rich, earthy tones, centered on a deep, rusty terracotta field that transitions into a sophisticated brown earth tone border. This warmth is dramatically offset by sharp accents of indigo blue and black, giving the highly detailed motifs exceptional clarity. Its practical dimensions classify it as a small scatter size, ideal for adding historical depth to a hallway or intimate seating area.
The structure of the design features a central elongated panel filled with repeating diamond lozenges, framed by complex stepped and angular borders. While framed, the density of the pattern creates a visual rhythm akin to an allover design, pulling the eye across the entire surface rather than focusing solely on a central medallion.
This piece is more than merely decorative; it is a genuine artifact reflecting the weaving traditions of the Khorasan region. As a fine example of antique rugs, this Baluch offers collectors and designers a powerful connection to the nomadic heritage of Persia, characterized by authenticity and rugged beauty.
Condition: Good.
