Antique Afshar Hallway Runner Wool Blue Rug, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional example of nomadic weaving from the Afshar tribes of Persia showcases the enduring quality and intricate design typical of late 19th-century antique rugs. The Afshar are renowned for their robust construction and distinctive palette, utilizing the finest hand-spun wool.

Botehs. Botehs. Botehs! This larger than usual Afshar small carpet from c.1890 has a navy ground densely patterned with rows of small botehs facing left and right alternately, rendered in warm terracotta, cream, and ochre tones against the deep indigo ground. This is an adaptation of Saraband central Persian town carpets. This highly disciplined repetition creates a powerful visual rhythm, characteristic of allover rugs produced by the Afshar weavers.

Woven with a high-quality, durable wool pile, this piece was designed for longevity in a domestic setting. Its elongated dimensions make it a perfect choice among hallway runner rugs, offering both visual interest and sound dampening in transitional spaces while maintaining its superb structural integrity.

The complexity of the main field is balanced by a series of finely detailed borders featuring geometric and stylized floral elements. The triple border is suitably discreet and centre around a rust floral stripe. The deep indigo field provides the perfect saturation for a refined selection of blue color rugs that elevate any interior space with their sophisticated, time-honored aesthetic.
