Antique Serab Persian Knotted Hallway Runner Rug, Circa Date: 1880s. This exceptional Persian runner is a superb example of 19th-century tribal weaving, highly valued among collectors of antique rugs for its robust construction and distinctive regional character.
The central field is defined by a deep, natural camel hue, a hallmark of Serab’s use of undyed or minimally dyed wool. This sophisticated palette of brown earth tone color rugs provides a grounding warmth that beautifully contrasts with the saturated accents of madder red, indigo blue, and ivory.
Woven in a long, narrow format, this piece is perfectly scaled for its traditional purpose. Its elongated dimensions make it an ideal choice among hallway runner rugs, lending a sense of historical continuity and textural richness to transitional spaces like corridors and entryways.
The central design features a series of bold, linked diamond lozenges, densely packed with intricate tribal symbols and geometric figures. This repetitive, continuous arrangement creates a striking allover rugs effect, framed by multiple guard borders featuring stylized floral and vine motifs.
