A late 19th-century Persian Serapi carpet from around 1880, measuring approximately 274.6 × 335.5 cm (about 9’0″ × 11’0″). The composition centers on a medallion design over an ivory ground, framed by a red-rust border — a brighter, more luminous color register than the deeper-red Serapis more commonly seen at this scale.
Serapi is the trade name for the highest-quality antique carpets produced in the Heriz weaving district of northwestern Persia in the late 19th century.
