A monumental late 19th-century Indian Lahore carpet from around 1890, measuring approximately 792.5 × 718.8 cm (about 26’0″ × 23’7″). Per the original ARS catalog notes, the design is based on fragments of a third-quarter 17th-century Mughal carpet from the Alice and Nasli Heeramanek Collection now at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Inv. no. 1983.494.4a-d). The composition pairs a rust field with a blue border at a true palace scale.

Lahore (today in Pakistan) was a major center of Mughal-tradition carpet weaving from the 16th century onward.

Hand-knotted wool. Authentic one-of-a-kind antique.
