A 19th-century Caucasian Moghan carpet from around 1890, measuring approximately 91.6 × 274.4 cm (about 3’5″ × 9’5″) — a long runner-format proportion that fits naturally in hallways, galleries, and against the long edge of a large bed. The design is a multi-color geometric composition framed by an ivory border, the kind of bold-color-on-ivory contrast that has made Moghan rugs particularly recognizable among collectors.
Moghan refers to a region on the Caucasus-Iran border (today’s Azerbaijan / northwestern Iran), and antique Moghan carpets in this period were hand-knotted in wool by tribal weavers.
Hand-knotted wool. Authentic one-of-a-kind antique.
