Antique Art Deco Large Room Size Wool Blue Rug, Circa Date: 1925. This exceptional Chinese Art Deco piece captures the transitional elegance of the 1920s, blending traditional motifs with modernist simplicity. Its generous dimensions make it an ideal choice among room size rugs designed for grand interiors.
The central field is dominated by a profound, saturated navy blue, offering a striking contrast to the luminous, wide tan border. This deep hue provides a sophisticated foundation, characteristic of the finest blue color rugs from the period, allowing the delicate border design to truly flourish.
The border features a masterfully executed, asymmetrical design of trailing vines, blossoms, and stylized foliage, rendered in subtle shades of pale blue, crimson, and gold. Anchoring the corners are magnificent avian figures, including a stately peacock and a phoenix, making this a superb example of decorative bird rugs.
Woven entirely of high-quality wool, the pile retains a luxurious softness and depth of color indicative of its age and careful preservation. This rug is not merely a floor covering but a significant textile artwork, representing the enduring appeal of fine antique rugs from the early 20th century.
