An early 19th-century Turkish Smyrna Oushak carpet from around 1820, measuring approximately 457.4 × 579.4 cm (about 15’0″ × 19’0″). The composition pairs a deep navy ground with a red-toned border — a saturated, formal color register characteristic of Smyrna-shipped Oushak production for European interiors of the early 1800s.

Smyrna (today’s İzmir) was the major Aegean port through which Anatolian carpets — including Oushaks woven inland in the town of Uşak — were exported to Western markets. Carpets of this date are scarce on the market today.

Hand-knotted wool. Authentic one-of-a-kind antique.
