A one-of-a-kind antique Persian Malayer rug

Malayer is a town in the Hamadan province of west-central Persia (now Iran), and the broader Malayer weaving region is one of the most prolific village-rug centers in the Persian tradition. Malayers combine vocabularies borrowed from neighboring formal centers — Sultanabad, Senneh, Sarouk — with the looser, more individual hand and natural color saturation of village production. Hand-spun wool yarn and single-weft construction are typical of the type.

Authentic one-of-a-kind antique village carpet.
