Donegal Rugs
Donegal rugs are hand knotted wool pile carpets from County Donegal, Ireland, made circa 1900 to the 1930s in the Arts and Crafts manner, with patterns attributed in our records to designers such as C.F.A. Voysey and Gavin Morton.
The antique Donegals we stock are floral and allover far more often than geometric, with a central medallion on a minority. Their signature colour is coral: salmon and pink grounds appear on nearly four in ten, with red and green next, while blue, ivory and neutral grounds are the exception rather than the rule. Most are room size or larger, and many are oversized.
