Antique Art Deco Hallway Runner Wool Green, Yellow Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exquisite piece captures the height of the Art Deco movement, blending traditional Eastern aesthetics with the bold, saturated palettes favored in the West. The central field glows with a rich, luminous yellow, providing a striking contrast to the deep teal border.
The design features graceful, naturalistic sprays of flowers and foliage that cascade inward from the border, a hallmark of early 20th-century Chinese production. The sophisticated use of color, particularly the muted yet profound green color rugs in the outer frame, grounds the vibrant yellow and complements the secondary tones of lavender, coral, and soft blue.
Woven from high-quality wool, this runner exhibits a plush pile and exceptional clarity of design. Its elongated dimensions make it an ideal choice for high-traffic transitional spaces, offering both visual impact and practical durability. It is a superb example of hallway runner rugs from the period, designed to elevate the experience of a long corridor or entryway. Please note this item is a Small Scatter Size Rug (5.1ft x 8.03ft), not a traditional long runner.
As a genuine artifact from the 1920s, this rug represents a fascinating intersection of global design trends. Pieces of this age and condition are increasingly sought after by collectors. Discover the enduring appeal of truly exceptional antique rugs that define a space with history and unparalleled artistry.
