Jasmine Alluring Aqua Handmade Wool Rug, Country of Origin: India. Hand-knotted from premium wool, this piece belongs to the same transitional family as the rest of our Indian rugs, built on a quiet open field rather than a busy pattern.
The ground is a soft aqua, a cool blue green that reads calm in daylight and keeps its color under lamplight. Among our blue color rugs this is one of the gentlest shades, easy to place against linen upholstery, pale oak and off white walls.
The only ornament is a sparse band of small charcoal motifs, each a cluster of four dots set in a cross, spaced widely so the field stays open. A slight abrash through the wool gives the surface movement and keeps a solid ground from looking flat, which is what separates a hand knotted rug from a printed one. The low even pile and blush fringe finish it simply.
At 10 x 14 this is a genuine room size piece, large enough to carry a full seating group or to sit under a ten seat dining table with the chairs still on the rug.
