The field is rendered in a sublime, shimmering shade of yellow, which provides a warm, luminous backdrop for the intricate botanical design. This subtle hue is expertly contrasted by a wide, deep jade green border, creating a visually arresting frame that enhances the rug’s grand scale. The color composition is both bold and harmonious, reflecting the sophisticated taste of the era.
A dense, organic medallion dominates the center, featuring an abundance of stylized blossoms, including vibrant dogwood and pansies rendered in deep crimson, lavender, and pale cream against a striking turquoise ground. The border itself is adorned with sinuous ribbons and trailing vines, emphasizing the movement and fluidity typical of transitional Chinese designs of the 1920s.
