A late 19th-century Turkish Anatolian Yuruk flat-weave prayer rug from around 1890, measuring approximately 91.6 × 122.2 cm (about 3’0″ × 4’0″). The composition centers on the mihrab (prayer arch) format characteristic of Anatolian village prayer rugs, executed in the kilim flat-weave technique with a brown field and navy border.
The Yuruk are semi-nomadic tribes of central and eastern Anatolia, historically associated with both pile and flat-weave wool village production.
Hand-woven wool flat-weave (kilim). Authentic one-of-a-kind antique village prayer rug.
