Antique American Multicolor 1920s Quilt: a quilt made in the United States, 57 x 82 inches (4’9″ x 6’10”). It is pieced from fabric and quilted through to a backing, not knotted or woven like a rug. Quilts like this were made as bed coverings; today they are hung as textile art or used as a throw or bed topper. Because it is a textile, we do not recommend it for use on the floor.

This exceptional American textile, dating from the early Jazz Age, presents a striking example of folk art translated into a domestic furnishing.

The design employs a compelling stepped diagonal motif, creating a dynamic, rhythmic movement across the entire surface. This highly effective geometric arrangement functions as an allover pattern, ensuring visual interest from every angle without relying on a central medallion or defined border system.

The palette is sophisticated yet subdued, utilizing rich, saturated tones of slate blue, deep charcoal, and muted plum. The interplay of these shades establishes a dramatic contrast against the dark ground, classifying this piece among the desirable multicolor jewel tone textiles that anchor a room with depth and historical resonance.

Given its dimensions and textile nature, this piece functions perfectly as a unique wall hanging or a decorative accent.

Condition: Good.
