The composition is built on an ivory field — a brighter, more luminous color register than the deeper-red and indigo Tabriz carpets more commonly seen on the market at this scale.
Tabriz is a major city in northwestern Persia (now Iran) and one of the historically most important centers of high-quality formal Persian carpet weaving, with a continuous workshop tradition stretching back to the Safavid period.
