A 1920s Persian Kirman carpet from around 1925, measuring approximately 244.1 × 548.6 cm (about 8’9″ × 18’0″). The composition is an allover floral design over a blue ground, framed by a cream border.
Kirman (also Kerman) is a major city in southeastern Persia (now Iran) with one of the longest continuous formal-carpet weaving traditions in the country, recognized for fine knot counts, refined floral drawing, and the pastel color palettes that came to define Kirman commercial production from the late 19th century through the mid-20th. Long-format Kirmans of this size suit formal living rooms, libraries, and gallery spaces.
