A one-of-a-kind antique Persian Kashan rug
Kashan is a historic city in central Persia (now Iran) and one of the oldest continuous centers of formal Persian carpet production, with a tradition stretching back to the Safavid period of the 16th and 17th centuries. Antique Kashan carpets are recognized for fine knot counts on cotton foundations, refined floral and medallion vocabularies, and the use of high-quality Manchester-spun wool yarns through much of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
