Antique Art Deco Room Size Wool Green, Ivory Beige Cream White Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This magnificent example of early 20th-century design captures the pivotal transition from traditional Oriental weaving to the bold, simplified aesthetic of the Art Deco movement. Its substantial scale makes it a perfect foundation piece for grand interiors, categorized among the finest room size rugs of the period.
The commanding field is rendered in a deep, saturated teal, a sophisticated hue often sought after in green color rugs from this era. This rich color provides a striking contrast to the broad, lustrous border, which is executed in warm tones of ivory and beige, creating visual balance and defining the expansive composition.
Eschewing the dense geometric patterns of earlier designs, the border features elegant, naturalistic sprays of stylized blossoms and trailing vines. These motifs, rendered with a painterly hand, curve gracefully inward, softening the architectural lines of the rug and adding a touch of organic fluidity characteristic of the best Art Deco pieces.
Woven from high-quality wool, this piece exhibits the luxurious pile and exceptional durability typical of the 1920s. It stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of period design and is a highly collectible addition to any collection of fine antique rugs.
