Antique American 1920s Red Square Floral Medallion Quilt: a quilt made in the United States, 84 x 86 inches (7′ x 7’2″). It is pieced from fabric and quilted through to a backing, not knotted or woven like a rug. Quilts like this were made as bed coverings; today they are hung as textile art or used as a throw or bed topper. Because it is a textile, we do not recommend it for use on the floor.
The central design features a prominent floral medallion, beautifully framed by intricate spandrels and borders within its balanced square format. The tradition of floral textiles in this period often reflected a desire for elegance and naturalism, utilizing a palette of rich, saturated hues. This specific example showcases a masterful blend of vibrant red tones, lending depth and warmth to any formal setting.
