A monumental early 20th-century Indian Lahore carpet from around 1920, measuring approximately 426.7 × 701.0 cm (about 14’0″ × 23’0″). The composition centers on a blue medallion design framed by a soft yellow border — a long gallery-format proportion suited to formal long living rooms, dining rooms, and the largest residential rooms.
Lahore (today in Pakistan) was a major center of Mughal-tradition carpet weaving from the 16th century onward, and remained one of the most important hand-knotted carpet production centers in the broader Indian subcontinent through the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
