An early 20th-century antique Persian Bijar carpet from the 1900s, The piece measures approximately 8’0″ × 14’0″ (per the seller listing).

The composition is a formally drawn medallion design on an ivory ground — a brighter, more luminous color register than the deeper-red Bijars more commonly seen on the market, and one that suits rooms with neutral walls and pale wood floors.

Bijar refers to a town in Persian Kurdistan (now Iran), historically known for producing exceptionally dense, structurally heavy wool carpets — the so-called “iron carpets of Persia.” The combination of a tightly packed pile and a double-weft foundation gives Bijars unusual weight and durability, and pieces of this period in stable condition are well over a century old.

Hand-woven wool. Authentic one-of-a-kind antique.
