A striking antique ivory and beige Savonnerie, hand-knotted in wool in France around 1920. This one-of-a-kind piece showcases a floral composition across an ivory and beige palette, and measures 15’3″ x 30’0″.
Savonnerie is the French tradition of hand-knotted pile carpets, begun in 17th-century Paris. Its designs share Aubusson’s graceful florals and architectural borders, but are woven with a knotted pile rather than as a flat tapestry weave.
Its generous, oversized scale makes a statement in a great room, primary suite or open-plan space. The ivory palette is endlessly versatile, lightening and enlarging a room. Hand-made from natural fibers, it carries the warmth and irregular charm of true handcraft.
