Antique Moud Room Size Wool Ivory Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exquisite example of the moud weaving tradition presents a sophisticated balance of scale and palette. Woven in the finest wool, this piece utilizes the generous square room size format typical of early 20th-century Persian production, making it ideal for grand interiors.
The luminous central field is defined by an elegant ivory color rugs ground, which provides a striking contrast to the secondary tones of soft camel, slate blue, and pale celadon. The composition features a highly detailed, dense allover design composed of repeating palmettes, stylized vines, and cypress motifs, ensuring visual depth across the entire surface.
Expertly knotted, the precision of the drawing is evident in the finely delineated borders, which frame the main field with multiple guard bands featuring repeating floral meanders. The wool retains a beautiful, soft handle and a rich patina, testament to nearly a century of careful preservation.
As a superb representation of early Pahlavi-era craftsmanship, this square piece transcends mere floor covering, functioning as a foundational element of design. It is a distinguished addition to our curated collection of exceptional antique rugs.
