The Chinese Art Deco rug tradition originated in 1920s and 1930s Tianjin and Beijing, where workshops produced large-format hand-knotted wool carpets in the Art Deco vocabulary for Western export. Contemporary reproductions in this style continue the recognizable open-field, soft-palette, geometric Chinese Art Deco design language.
