Antique 1930s Blue Rectangle Floral Wool Hand Knotted Pile Rug, Circa Date: 1930s. This exquisite piece represents the finest tradition of antique rugs from the early 20th century, characterized by its luxurious wool pile and masterful hand-knotting.
The field is dominated by a rich, deeply saturated cobalt, a striking blue color that provides a dramatic backdrop for the delicate motifs. The open composition allows the velvety texture of the wool to shine, creating a sense of depth and tranquility typical of high-quality Peking production.
Scattered gracefully across the expansive field and contained within the borders, the subtle Chinoiserie elements showcase a sophisticated floral design. These motifs—including blossoming branches, vases, and stylized birds—are rendered in soft cream and pale blue tones, offering a refined contrast to the deep indigo ground.
Designed as a substantial furnishing element, this piece is categorized as a true room size rug. Its generous dimensions and enduring visual appeal make it an ideal centerpiece for a formal living space or a grand dining room, lending an air of timeless elegance and historical gravitas to any interior.
