A striking antique black and blue Peking, hand-knotted in wool in China around 1920. This one-of-a-kind piece showcases a composition across a black and blue palette, and measures 2’0″ x 2’0″.
Antique Chinese Peking carpets were hand-woven in northern China in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They are loved for their open, uncluttered fields, soft sculpted wool pile, and motifs drawn from Chinese symbolism – medallions, florals, birds and auspicious emblems.
As a smaller scatter size, it makes a perfect accent for an entryway, reading nook or bedside – and layers beautifully over a larger rug or natural fiber. Hand-knotted from durable wool, it is made to be lived with and handed down.
