An early 20th-century English Edwardian Axminster carpet from around 1900, measuring approximately 396.4 × 426.7 cm (about 13’0″ × 14’0″). Per the original ARS catalog notes, the brilliant orange-red of this very late Victorian / early Edwardian carpet displays floral sprays in lighter orange with a lacy, broken border with poppies in the corners and centering two sides — a design that reads like a velvet textile.
As with Axminsters generally, the handle is heavy and the pile is dense and very long-wearing. Just the thing for any space designed in a 19th-century style.
Hand-knotted wool. Authentic one-of-a-kind antique English carpet.
