A 1920s Chinese Art Deco carpet measuring approximately 269.2 × 345.4 cm (about 8’10” × 11’4″). The composition is built on a fuchsia field with a gold-toned border, executed in the bold Modernist floral vocabulary characteristic of high Chinese Art Deco production of the period.
The Chinese Art Deco rug tradition emerged in 1920s Tianjin and Beijing workshops, where carpets were produced in updated Western-influenced color palettes and proportions for European and American export.
