Antique Art Deco Room Size Wool Multi Rug, Circa Date: 1925. This exceptional piece captures the exuberant spirit of the 1920s, merging structured geometry with lush, stylized naturalism. Its sophisticated design is a masterful example of the transitional period found within antique rugs.
The composition is defined by a striking octagonal central medallion set against a field of soft, warm beige. This neutral ground allows the dense, all-over bouquet of stylized flowers—rendered in rich blues, greens, and pinks—to truly flourish. Geometric, stepped borders in mauve and purple provide the necessary Art Deco structure, framing the vibrant interior.
A dramatic visual contrast is achieved through the wide, crimson-red main border, which is densely populated with large, abstracted blossoms. The combination of the deep red, the subtle beige, and the profusion of secondary hues results in a striking multicolor jewel-tone palette that defines the rug’s visual impact.
Expertly hand-knotted in wool, this rug retains excellent pile and color saturation, indicative of its high quality and careful preservation over the last century. Its substantial dimensions classify it as a true room size rug, making it an ideal anchor piece for a grand living space or a sophisticated dining room requiring a statement of historical elegance.
