Antique American 1920s Multicolor Quilt: a quilt made in the United States, 54 x 86 inches (4’6″ x 7’2″). It is pieced from fabric and quilted through to a backing, not knotted or woven like a rug. Quilts like this were made as bed coverings; today they are hung as textile art or used as a throw or bed topper. Because it is a textile, we do not recommend it for use on the floor.
The field utilizes a highly successful allover design composed of repeating squares and smaller internal blocks, creating a visually textured, almost pixelated effect. Unlike traditional medallion textiles, this structure emphasizes uniformity and rhythm, allowing the subtle shifts in color to define the movement across the surface.
The palette is exceptionally gentle, featuring a blend of powder blues, soft pinks, mint greens, and cream tones, interspersed with deeper indigo accents that anchor the composition. This sophisticated use of color establishes it as a true multicolor masterpiece.
