Antique American Allover Geometric Multicolor Jewel Tones 1920s Quilt: a quilt made in the United States, 74 x 88 inches (6’2″ x 7’4″). It is pieced from fabric and quilted through to a backing, not knotted or woven like a rug. Quilts like this were made as bed coverings; today they are hung as textile art or used as a throw or bed topper. Because it is a textile, we do not recommend it for use on the floor.
The central field features a bold, interlocking lattice pattern composed of small, precise squares and diamonds. This highly structured, repeating design creates an impressive visual rhythm across the entire surface, defining it as one of the finest allover design from the period.
The dramatic contrast is achieved through a deep, saturated black ground, which allows the vibrant secondary colors—a bright primary red and a cool cerulean blue—to project forward. This specific use of high-contrast hues elevates it into the category of multicolor jewel tone textiles, offering a powerful aesthetic statement suitable for modern or traditional interiors.
Condition: Good.
