A striking antique multicolor jewel-tone Chinese Art Deco, hand-knotted in wool in China around 1920. This one-of-a-kind piece showcases a floral composition across a multicolor jewel-tone palette, and measures 12’0″ x 19’0″.

Chinese Art Deco rugs emerged in the 1920s and 1930s, when weavers in Tianjin – most famously in the workshops associated with Walter Nichols – paired traditional Chinese craft with the bold, asymmetrical, modern aesthetic of the Art Deco movement. The result is a distinctive look: spacious fields, oversized blossoms and a fresh, painterly use of color.

Its generous, oversized scale makes a statement in a great room, primary suite or open-plan space. Its multicolor palette gives you freedom to pull accent colors throughout the room. Hand-knotted from durable wool, it is made to be lived with and handed down.
