Antique American Hooked Canada – Loop Pile Rug, Circa Date: 1935. This exquisite loop pile rug captures the romantic aesthetic popular in North America during the mid-1930s. Unlike formal woven pieces, hooked rugs often possess a charming, handcrafted quality, making them distinct additions to any collection of antique rugs.
The palette is deliberately gentle, centered around a pronounced, elongated cartouche. This central reserve utilizes a soft, slightly aged ivory beige cream white color rugs ground, providing a perfect foil for the dense, naturalistic bouquet that defines the composition.
The design is a masterful display of stylized naturalism, featuring lush roses, delicate bellflowers, and trailing vines. This rich arrangement places it firmly within the category of floral rugs, though the execution is uniquely North American, contrasting sharply with the powder blue field that frames the central motif.
Measuring in a versatile format, this piece functions beautifully as one of the desirable small scatter size rugs. Its delicate coloration and restrained elegance make it an ideal accent for a sophisticated bedroom, dressing room, or intimate sitting area, offering a subtle nod to Depression-era domestic artistry.
Condition: Good.
