A striking antique ivory and beige Peking, hand-knotted in wool in China around 1920. This one-of-a-kind piece showcases an open field medallion across an ivory and beige palette, and measures 6’0″ x 8’7″.
Antique Chinese Peking carpets were hand-woven in northern China in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They are loved for their open, uncluttered fields, soft sculpted wool pile, and distributed motifs drawn from Chinese symbolism – medallions, florals, birds and auspicious emblems.
At a true room size it will anchor a living or dining room, framing a seating group or sitting comfortably under a dining table. The ivory palette is endlessly versatile, lightening and enlarging a room. Hand-knotted from durable wool, it is made to be lived with and handed down.
