Tekke Rugs
Produced by the Tekke tribe of Turkmenistan, these are the original “Bokhara” rugs. They are defined by a rhythmic repetition of the “Tekke Gul” (an octagonal tribal crest) across a field that is almost always a rich, deep mahogany or liver-red.
Known for their velvet-like wool and exceptional craftsmanship, Tekke rugs offer a disciplined, masculine elegance. They are the classic “lawyer’s rug,” lending an air of tradition and stability to libraries and executive offices.
Tekke rugs are prized examples of Turkmen weaving, recognized immediately by their deep, saturated madder reds and repeating signature gul motifs.
