Antique American Multicolor 1920s Square Quilt: a quilt made in the United States, 69 x 69 inches (5'9" x 5'9"). It is pieced from fabric and quilted through to a backing, not knotted or woven like a rug. Quilts like this were made as bed coverings; today they are hung as textile art or used as a throw or bed topper. Because it is a textile, we do not recommend it for use on the floor. Its construction utilizes a "crazy quilt" methodology, blending utility with sophisticated design in a distinct square format. The composition is defined by an intricate network of irregularly shaped fabric fragments, creating a dynamic, non-repeating field of geometric textiles. These patches incorporate diverse materials—tweeds, stripes, and solids—in a rich, subdued palette of olive, charcoal, rust, and slate blue, held together by striking red blanket stitching.
